Every human being on this planet has a purpose for being here! And I spent over thirty years on three continents looking for mine. I thought I’d found it when Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson agreed to help me go from prison guard to pipeline magnate. It was at that moment I believed my life was about to take off. I mean, what could possibly go wrong for a prison guard selling oilfield equipment to the Russians?
As it turned out almost everything, from a fellow prison guard stealing the business to shady deals with African con-men, deposed Iranian royalty, and a Georgian fugitive on the lam for embezzlement. After fleeing a hotel in Cotonou, narrowly avoiding being kidnapped in Tbilisi and surviving the Russian marriage from hell, I was on a downward spiral until the day I discovered my passion for flying airplanes.
What I love about flying is what I love about all passionate pursuits. They transform us into the best possible version of ourselves by filling us with joy and raising our expectations of what we’re capable of. And most importantly, pursuing our passion can be a catalyst for finding and living our purpose.
